They don't. Trees need a Brain first to understand language.
A Brain which at least the size of a Dog's Brain.

& For advanced math & physics you need to have much bigger brains than that.

It wouldn't. Intelligence is useless, no matter what thought or plan you come up, if you're immotile. Without agency it's just a waste of energy.

Having a good brain requires energy, all of those abilities you mentioned could be performed in a more energy efficient way without needing a brain. Like a venus fly trap for instance.

Neither of these are examples of intelligence. All of these are novel functions of the body. And if these functions actually evolved, then you'd still have to justify why they need sapient control instead of just instinct or automatism, and if these functions really improve the fitness of the species compared to their cost and maintenance.
