This is true. Desertification caused by habitat fragmentation, biodiversty loss, Industrialized agriculture, climate change, and other obvious and complex anthropogenic causes disrupting ecological-biogeochemical processes are what is causing the 42% out forests that grow in arid climates to disappear as parameters break down and baselines shift into a near lifeless desert.
Desert life is being hit just as hard by all of this.
