usually people say the mathematical side of GR goes to Einstein and Hilbert
but the physics of GR goes to Einstein?
how does that exactly work?
>>9011966
Think how Newton and Leibniz both did calculus, but only Newton did mechanics.
>>9011977
Do you think David Hilbert should be credited as a co-creator of General Relativity
Of course the physical side of things is important. Like how Lorentz and Poincare both derived a lot of the mathematics used in SR but did it in an entirely electromagnetic context, it was Einstein who realized the connection between electromagnetism and mechanics. Poincare derived E=mc2 too but to him it was a paradox.
You might as well call Riemann the discoverer of GR if you don't think physical interpretations are important. Some retards at /pol/ do just that.

thats mainly because /pol doesn't like einstien cause he is jewish

Einstein plagiarized (copied & stole the credit) from Lorentz, Poincare & Hilbert.
"Lorentz' paper containing the transformations bearing his name appeared in 1904."
"Poincare published a paper in which he said that radiation could be considered as a fictitious fluid with an equivalent mass of
[math] E = m_{r} c^{2} [/math]"
"Hermann Minkowski showed in 1907 that the theory of special relativity could be elegantly described using a four-dimensional spacetime, which combines the dimension of time with the three dimensions of space."
"the commonly accepted view was that David Hilbert completed the general theory of relativity at least 5 days before Albert Einstein's"

he completed the einstein equations supposedly 5 days before Einstein
but Einstein build the physical theory since 1907

nigga wut

Newton copied/stole/plagiarized/took all credit from Robert Hooke work in Mechanics & Optics.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Hooke#Personality_and_disputes
>His reputation suffered after his death and this is popularly attributed to a dispute with Isaac Newton over credit for his work on gravitation, the planets and to a lesser degree light.
>Newton, as President of the Royal Society, did much to obscure Hooke, destroying Hooke portraits.

And rest of the world doesn't like einstein because he's a plagiarist and a racist.
Einstein was ASHKENAZI

Possibly relevant similar story ... Patrick Matthew laid out the principles of natural selection as a mechanism driving evolution before Darwin or Wallace.
But, he did not do anything to develop or support it, did not seek out evidence to support it. But he did mention it in print well before Darwin and Wallace, in a footnote to a book about forestry in Scotland.
When it is Steam Engine Time, people start thinking about Steam Engines, ideas allowing the building of a steam engine start to circulate - and suddenly, people start making steam engines. One of them will be the first to cross the threshold of "inventing" the steam engine. Getting edgy about who it was, or calling the process "plagiarism," seems foolish.

Einstein wrote down "Einstein's equation" as a conservation law for energy in the curved spacetime. The mathematics of curved spacetime were developed by others but it was Einstein's idea to write the conservation law for energy.
