The universe (tv series), Steins;Gate, nova, futurama what type of show are you looking for?

Well written dramas or accurate scientific news sauce?

Thanks senpai. Just what I was looking for.

Perfect senpai. Exactly what I was looking for.

Dramas. Sort of geared towards above average intelligence normies.

If you're looking for hints towards science, then Numb3rs is your thing.
The "science" in the series is usually ignoring information theory, so all their calculations have meaningful results instead of being useless due to noise and such.

The people who run "science news" sites/magazines are not trained in science. Here's how it works.
>Researcher does a bunch of work, attends conferences, gives talks, etc.. and at some point publishes some papers on their topic.
>Either the journalist hears about the researcher (typically for gimicky research) or the researcher contacts the journalist about their research.
>Researcher knows that while the majority of the audience is a bunch of retards the educated readers will actually read the associated research papers so it doesn't matter if the news article is flawed or even contradicts the research.
>Journalist gets a brief high level explanation of the topic (eg. a short phone call). Maybe the journalist asks some canned questions about it.
>Journalist attempts to write a cohesive article that combines their poor understanding of the topic with pop culture/clickbait themes in order to make something that's likely to attract readers.
>Editor looks at journalist's article and dumbs it down further, possibly adding even more misconceptions and incorrect conclussions to the content.
>Article gets posted and gets shared like wildfire by retards on social media. This helps secure funding for the research later on and helps raise awareness in the community as other researchers actually read the paper itself after hearing about it through their retarded friends.

What you should do:
Read journal articles and watch talks given by the authors of those articles. Emphasis on talks, as researchers will go far out of their way to make the material as compact and comprehensible as possible. Not to mention they'll be giving talks on the stuff long before those shitty "science news" sites pick it up.

I'll agree that most science news websites are utter trash however there are exceptions, namely the ones run by actual scientists, there are of course blogs like tao's that cover new material in a readable fashion. Another example is nature, which has plenty of expository articles aimed at the general scientific audience, or quanta magazine, also written by people who understand the topic (one author on the site is wilczek).

Criminal investigation shows in general are retarded.

Sure sure, but those are few and far between. STAT is a new one that attempts to be good but their articles are in my opinion pretty hit or miss.

Personally, what I find what works best is to find out about the researchers and labs that are doing the sort of stuff you're interested in and to look for content through them directly (not just video talks and lecture slides as mentioned above but other stuff as well).

For instance Dr. Corinne Moss-Racusin is the lead author on a bunch of interesting research on gender equality. They do lots of stuff on bias, bias about bias, and compelling experiments where they mess with the gender of names attached to documents. She runs a research lab called SCID that has a page here:
https://academics.skidmore.edu/blogs/scidlab/
The page includes a list of peer reviewed papers, a description of the lab's research, as well as a list of news articles covering their research here:

Scrubs was pretty good if you like applied science. It's more accurate than most of the medical shows.
