not sure if you're ripping off my thread from a simplified perspective, but im glad you are asking a good question in terms of how journailsm use science to force public acceptance of conclusions which are often wrong
There is an enormous difference between actual scientific journalism and SCIENTISTS JUST DISCOVERED X AND ITD BEAUTIFUL brainlet clickbait trash. Just lile between you and an intelligent OP.

Nah, mine's about how modern journalism does a great disservice to scientific inquiry by giving pseuds ammunition.

I think the whole phenomenon of pseudoscience is the cause of how science is publicized.
Scientists will tell you that everything they do is to approach some kind of truth, but that nothing they say is the absolute truth; they are only models that scientists believe best represent given the data available. People shit on scientists because the way it's reported by a select few "scientists" (TV personalities) and the news is that it's the absolute truth scientists are giving, only that scientists are often wrong.
One thing that I thought was interesting that I talked with an anon about was that it'd be really neat if there were incentives for older, retiring PIs to enter into the realm of politics and journalism, but that's kind of a pipe dream. One, I don't know how society would accept it, and two, PIs would rather be sipping margaritas in some tropical country, lazing about than doing something after they retire.

Sounds like an interesting idea. Who knows, there might be at least one PI interested, though it may take some time to find them.
