Why is the world obssesed over solar photovoltaic?

Because once we figure out peroskvite solar cells we can put solar cells on pretty much everything. Your house, your car, your shoes, your dog, etc.

We'll generate so much solar power it won't be funny. Coal, natural gas, nuclear, and wind power will succumb to the mighty sun!

>>8974210
Which one of those is the most efficient?
>>
>>8974241
Pv is only 30 percent efficient

CO2 emissions have a greater impact than albedo change due to solar panels

Neat thing is that you can combine those two devices. The batch water heater can cool the PV panels to help heat the water using a hybrid system.

PV uses rare earth metals though...
>>
>>8974406
And exactly what lanthanides do solar cells use again? Please do tell?
>>
>>8974406
Rare Earth metals are common despite the name.
>>
>>8974406
>>8974614
It is rare for solar cells to use rare earth elements. Most solar cells are for the most part silicon and the big costs come from making that silicon.

Now the thing is if we crack perovskite solar, things could be a lot cheaper. We could make solar cells out of common elements like lead, carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, and halogens. Not only that, but the processing takes place at room temperature.

If I were to live forever, I would eventually lead the charge to snuff out the sun. I will then harvest its unspent fuel and use it in a manner more responsible than incredibly inefficiently making of photons and a radiation shield for the old fashioned planet dwellers.

No reason for the foaming at the mouth, really. It's not necessarily bad. The source isn't very dense, but it's becoming less difficult to collect with good scale.

It is completely valid to be skeptical of the large scale power storage required for it to compete with the adults, though. Also valid to be skeptical of solar heaters beyond small point energy uses. Same issues, really.

global memeing
instead of burning coal/gas in a clean way you offshore all the toxic waste and environmentally damaging mining to china.
You also get the stupid normies to feel like they're doing something good while in reality you rip them off.

Solar thermal is widely used in many Mediterranean countries (spain, israel, greece, morocco) and massively in china. It's actually worth it and has a 5 year ROI without subsidies and fucking up the power grid)

>fucking up the power grid
How does PV fuck up the power grid? never heard of this one
>>
>>8975207
rebcunt coal propaganda, ignore
>>
>>8975207
Look up the problems Hawaii has had with its infrastructure as solar installations started reaching levels above 20%. It basically amounts to most power grids being shit to begin with.

PV is shit definitely, solar thermal on the other hand is really useful on some geographic zones
