What are the pro and cons of cannibalism?
Any health benefits?
Not just for humans but any other specie

It's the same as eating any other meat.

then why is it so rare? whats the reason behind only a little species eating their kin

Because it's easier to kill things weaker than you than something as strong as you. And carnivore meat is typically tougher anyway.

Well you're not getting more nutritional content from human meat than say, beef, so it's not really more healthy, hell apparently human meat doesn't taste that great. Furthermore humans don't like to be eaten, so it'd be a bitch to get human meat, not really any pros to cannibalism given the abundance of chicken, pig, and cow

Because it rapidly increases the odds of you getting a disease.
Think of it this way. If you eat $_ORGANISM meat, then in order for any bacteria within the $_ORGANISM to infect you, they'd have to be able to survive both in $_ORGANISM and in humans. Whereas if you eat a human, any bacteria within will also be able to survive just as easily in you.
Plus, you're basically guaranteed to catch any bacteria or viruses that use bodily fluids as a vector. What's interesting is that there's actually types of prions that have evolved to cause cannibalistic urges in human hosts. As a result, any highly social populations will quickly develop ritual cannibalism as a core part of their culture, which allows said prions to thrive. Look up Kuru.
Cannibalism is extremely unhealthy!
It causes psychosis and disease.
Especially if cannibalism is a cultural practice, meaning that it is generational the side affects are more prominent in terms of mental illness.
Ultimate it causes retardation in terms of the ability to not only retain the development through reproduction/descendants, but it will turn the clock backwards!

can confirm.
Human meat you need slow cooking methods to make tender like smoking or roasting.

I think that cannibalism may lead to diseases like the mad cow disease. It is caused by prions, which are modified proteins. I cannot see any benefits in cannibalism.

cons = prion diseases.
Read Fatal Flaws by Jay Ingram

Kuru is another disease which is also common amongst those who practice cannibalism and if am not wrong, it is also due to prions.

it is, it was the original human prion disease discovered, and it's similarity to scrapie helped link it to prions. But the last case for kuru was years ago, and the tribes that practiced cannibalism have altogether stopped, it is very likely that kuru will be eradicated soon.
the real question is how close are beta amyloid fibers to prions, and whether or not alzheimer's disease can be considered transmissible (with an enormously long incubation time)

Not to mention that if you ate a human from an industrialized nation, they'll have toxins resulting from their diet and environment, adding said toxins from their body to yours, increasing the chances of getting sick.
A smart carnivore will only eat vegetarians, or at least that which is 90% vegetarian!
