why the fuck did they need to visit a planet that was so close to the black hole? isn't the black hole's presence enough reason for life not to exist there? it seems like a retarded decision..

it's a movie. it's a movie, and it's a movie.
>>
>>8966536
there was no decision, the wormhole to the solar system was placed there for them.
>>
>>8966567
wow, it's almost like you didn't read the OP
>>
>>8966536

Because they misunderstood the intent of higher beings.
>>

Not quite, you can actually orbit a big enough black hole if you do it just right

Its not pretty but habitable worlds could be possible with a black hole although tides would be fucked beyond belief
>>
>>8966536
because this movie is 100% garbage drivel

B R A V O
>>
>>8966536
The higher beings literally just opened up a worm hole so that humans could run right into the black hole and mystically whisp some secret variable back to the empowered woman scientist
>>
>>8966536
The humans in the future are still trolls.

There is absolutely no difference between orbiting a star or orbiting a black hole with the same mass as that star.
And all the fancy time dilation shit only really gets going on orbits where you would've already been inside a similar mass sun anyway.
Ordinary Black holes are pretty tame at the right distance.

issue would be how in the everloving fuck a tame black hole would get anywhere near the energy output of a star
