Why did nature evolve big cats into an offspring of tiny cats?
>>
>>8959962
There's no reason, they just evolved like that and it dindn't affect reproduction rates. Evolution is just a matter of random mutation and how it affects reproduction ability of the specie, evolution doesn't mean bigger/stronger/better/smarter
>>
>>8959962
Smol cat needs less resources to survive so in harsh environments they're more likely to survive

Big cat can defend itself and offspring more easily (and fuck girl cats more easily)

Well, great you 2 completely contradict eo
>>
>>8959962
Because humans found them cuter and would be more likely to feed them. Evolution works in backwards ways like that.
>>
>>8959962
humans kept hunting big cat prey.

small cats could still hunt while living within the human population.
>>
>>8959962
one possibility: ice ages. When the temperature drops, having more mass to surface area is more energy efficient.
>>
>>8960207
Are you serious? How does a cat have more mass to surface area than a tiger.
Also ..like, bears haven't gotten smaller, dogs do not count, as big and small cats resemble each other way more!

>bears haven't gotten smaller
Yes they have
http://wiseaboutbears.org/bears-of-yesterday-prehistoric/
Every time humans entered an ecosystem, many of the largest animals went extinct, and their was a reduction in size of the survivors
>>
>>8960140
And they are both right.
That's the beauty of evolution.
>>
>>8960140
but they didn't contradict eachother?
smaller cats having separate advantages to survival from large cats means that despite the mutation they didn't become less likely to reproduce
