After over a decade of chasing stimulation, I have just now fully realized the double-edged sword that is the brain's natural reward system. Overindulging on every dopamine producing pathway imaginable has fried my synapses and created many new challenges such as lack of motivation, concentration, etc.
I want to make a complete 180* transformation. Instead of blowing through neurotransmitters like a filthy animal, starting now I want to avoid all unnecessary pleasures and stimulation. I want to cultivate a stone-cold, monk-like executive control, so that I can allocate all pleasure chemicals to the pursuit of truly important things like science, math, and sustainable happiness.
Besides avoiding the obvious culprits such as drugs (amphetamines, caffeine, nicotine, ...), vidya games, and junk food, what do I need to do to achieve this goal /sci?

but that shouldnt be that hard for someone who plans on becoming the /sci/ version of /r9k/

Build up the ability to meditate for two hours every day. And I'm not talking about some random bullshit but solid concentration. Also employ operant conditioning techniques on yourself and track your progress through journaling.
