I didn't have a test, just lots of free time.

How are you able to concentrate for such long periods? I find myself distracted after 45 minutes or so

I think the guy in this crop says it all.
That and on a HFLC diet I can go on for those eight hours without much trouble.
You still have to train yourself into doing it, it doesn't come right away.

It also can make you miserable though.
You're at the pinnacle of your productivity but it doesn't feel good.
I haven't done this for extended periods so I can't say your mood doesn't improve in the long term.
