In a sense. The point is more that your current sense of self is an illusion, and that there is really only one thing, and that is the whole universe. The deeper sense of self, meaning that other people are basically you except you just can't access their memories. The earth is as much "you" as your hand is "you". Makes no sense to consider anything different parts because every part of the universe is inter-related. I think Buddhism is metaphorically correct
