Why is the temperature axis on a H-R diagram the wrong way around?

My guess: because a sun is hot at first, and then slowly turns colder with age. The x axis is more like a time axis.
>>
Why is blue hotter than white?
>>
>>8925861
Because the peak is in UV, so blue is the strongest part of the visible spectrum because it's closest to UV.
>>
because astrophysicists are retarded

Fuck you cuntbag. You've no idea how hard it is

Because Energy density is the dependent variable in the planck equation.

For retards, even tying shoes can be a challenge

Because originally it was not temperature on the HR diagram but spectral class. Later HR diagrams had colour plotted on the x axis as a colour-magnitude plot, B-V for example. Temperature is plotted so that the plot has the same shape as it always has.

There are none desu

It's more intuitive.

The evolution of a star involves traveling down the main sequence, and either hitting a fat rebound and going towards hot and bright if massive enough, sag off towards hot and dim if average, or poop off as brown dwarfs if small.

It all pretty much follows exactly from the main sequence, and it being a left-right thing is probably just a convention because astrophysicists don't waste their time obfuscating diagrams meant to explain things easily.

Perhaps it's referencing peak wavelength emission, which could be roughly translated into temperature (although the scale would appear reversed).
>>
temperature is a proxy for wavelength from Wein's Law.
Shorter wavelengths are hotter, so we have temperature increasing to the left towards smaller wavelengths.
