What are the first symptoms of schizofrenia?
>>
There aren't any. There isn't a single criterion that distinguishes the mentally "ill" from the "healthy".
>>
>>8923151
>What are the first symptoms of schizofrenia?
Writing schizofrenia instead of schizophrenia I am afraid.
>>
Increased dopamine levels or dopamine sensitivity.

There's a relationship between blinking and dopamine activity.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6640274/
So people with schizophrenia may blink less or not at all, but that's hardly an accurate predictor.
>>
Bad trips
>>
>>8923151

The inability to distinguish memory from thought.

Not being able to sleep do to increase in dopamine.
>>
>>8923151
If schizos have increased dopamine, why do they feel bad?
>>
>>8923408
Seems the article says they blink more than normies
>>
>>8923478
>inability to distinguish memory from thought
what does that even mean? memory is only enacted when recalled in a cycle of thought...
>>
>>8924882
Higher levels of dopamine lead to increased mental stimulation ie intrusive thoughts/ visual or audio hallucinations.
>>
>>8923151

Typically, hearing voices or having disturbing thoughts that you don't recognize as being your own. It's an extremely complex illness, however, and it can manifest in many ways, not all of which are obviously pathological.
>>
>>8923151
Usually starts with the prodrome: Social withdrawal, apathy, anhedonia, suspiciousness, paranoid and weird thoughts, some minor hallucinations, but with intact insight.

This lasts for a few months, or sometimes a year or two, until the frank psychosis breaks out with its hallucinations and delusions.
>>
can't you google this first?

Diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic here,
my first symptoms were not being able to tell the difference between things I was thinking and things I was saying, believing that I was telepathic despite logically knowing that speaking directly to people with my mind was impossible, and thinking that all forms of media such as tv, radio, and literally anything on the internet was trying to talk to me directly as a conspiracy or something, aka delusions of grandeur.
>>
>>8924972
this is basically me and it's been getting worse over time. once i hit 20 it started getting really bad

I've always had problems with thinking people are always watching me/talking about me in the most negative way in the past but its been getting much worse recently.

I'm not sure what to do, and have been thinking about seeing a psychologist because it's getting even worse, but ultimately dont want to face the possibility i actually have schizoaffective or some schizo- disorder, and because the thought of using anti-psychotics really scares me. The other option is just using drugs, though cannabis can really make the problem worse and cause panic attacks, and heroin or benzos aren't something i can afford to do.

Mostly i'm just hoping i have panic disorder and very avoidant features, but recently the idea people are watching me has gotten lots worse and it's harder to prevent myself from thinking im being judged by invisible cameras or people in the dark.

Why these thoughts bother me is not something i completely understand, probably because they are my own judgements.

Any suggestions?
>>
>>8924887
this, it's also reconstructed in that thought, your memories aren't very reliable and they alter/fade very quickly.
>>
>>8924999
Go visit a doctor anon.
>>
>>8923188
You're a fucking idiot.
>>8923151
The most well known symptom is the delusion and/or hallucination symptom. Commonly auditory hallucinations are what we recognize as the key sign of schizophrenia and this can be present in early prevalency cases but mostly the individual suffers from delusions at early stages. Mild unusual mood changes and magical thinking. The individual will typically suffer from misguide associations in thinking. Beginning stages are characterized by antisocial traits and I dont mean as avoidant to society but rather, when society engages the individual it appears that they are not socially adjusted well. Clear thinking is absent in later stages and sometimes people with schizophrenia spectrum and related disorders will stay at a somewhat mild stage with these symptoms. Schizoaffective and schizophrenic I em disorders are different types that both lead to the end game which is schizophrenia. The progression contains several "quirky" kinks in a person's person and over the course of years, graduates to psychotic symptoms like delusions of persecution and seeing phantoms in their kitchen.
>>
>>8925231
>Schizoaffective and schizophreniform

Correction: these 2 are separate of schizophrenia but can easily be mistaken as schizophrenia. The schizophrenia spectrum disorders are notorious for their poor diagnostic differences.
>>
>>8925231
Thanks. Is this a somewhat accurate depiction?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWYwckFrksg
>>
>>8924887

I expressed myself badly I guess. I've worked with schizophrenia patients and a lot of them can't distinguish things that actually happened (memory) and scenarios they thought up in their mind (thoughts).
>>
>>8924999
people are to busy with their own self image to care about yours.
>>
>>8924936
>>8924882

This anon is right.

Schizophrenia has more "positive" psychotic characteristics. Positive is a general term for added behaviors, hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, these are all added to behavior and activity.... as opposed to negative symptoms like withdrawing and isolating one self (reducing behavior and activity).

Inhibition of the D2, 3, 4 receptors reduce dopamine and reduce positive psychotic symptoms associated with schizophrenia.

The medications available that reduce dopamine can induce Parkinson's though (condition where decreased dopamine causes Parkinson's disease)
>>
I am diagnosed with schizophrenia. Its varies from person to person. For me, I don't really think the disease exists but I have paranoid thoughts when I go outside and form conspiracy theories about Jewish women trying to seduce me to take me down. I also believe I can see the future
>>
>>8925420
I only get visual hallucinations if its like the corner of my peripheral vision for a second or if im reading quickly I see one word as another. But when I am sleep deprived when I am in public places and there is a lot of chatter I hear my name being called
>>
>>8925425
Its not like super storybooky delusions at first it starts real subtle. Like you start off at questioning certain things and if you are right you go on all sorts of wild tangents and that opens the door for so many things to be possible
>>
>>8925414
>>8925431
But what most people don't understand is that the negative symptoms are a consequence of the positive ones. For instance, i mostly stay indoors and am not good at making friends because I think they might be a tool that the FBI/ jew mafia can be used to reach me. Reducing one's behavior is explained by getting so disillusioned with society and getting deep into obsessive interests.
>>
>>8925435
The voices in the head are just manifestations of different aspects of my personality. Its like Piccolo breaking off from Kame. I actually have Dr. Sigmund Freud in my head after I took an Intro Psychology class and read some of his books
>>
>>8925443
If schizophrenia is real I've actually had it since I was a child but the Trump election was a real trigger for me
>>
>>8923151
idk about first symptoms, but here's how it looks in its advanced stages

The first symptoms are (((paranoid))) and (((delusional thinking))) also getting really invested in a particular thing. Laughter in stranger scenarios is also a big one
t. (((schizophrenic)))
>>
Insomnia was also one I had
I consciously withdrew from society
Also obsessive interests
Falling in and out with many women

Im like less religious that 95% of all people. Im an atheist but I have seen some spooky stuff
>>
>>8925471
I believe can be able to control my brain and control my hallications at will. For instance, if i listen to a song a number of times. a can play it back in my head when im walking or bored. I can also alter the colors of objects i focus on and make the patterns of ceilings move
>>
>>8924975
Sounds like a bad acid trip that doesn't end

I'm sorry anon
>>
>>8925486
My theory is that schizophrenia is an increase in brain plasticity which allows people to stretch their brains and see things they wouldnt normally see
>>
>>8924975
why is telepathy impossible?
Maybe you have the gift of prophecy and you can take all this information and transmute it into one message
>>
>>8924882
they dont feel bad they feel woke
>>
I remember one of the triggers for my psychosis was watching a Trump rally on CNN and Trump saying they wont tell you the truth they wont tell you whats really going on they wont turn the cameras. and this lauched into a whole thread about this just being an experiment and we are being watched on a tv show hence turn the cameras and this isnt what the real world is

Then I saw all these boxes like from the movie 2001 a space odyssey only i hadnt even seen that movie yet and they were all in alignment like a thought matrix

And I was laughing maniacally during all this in a bus station
>>
>>8925501
And the black boxes all turned and aligned to face me while that loud as movie intro sound played what is it THX

and there is also some shit with language and social phrases that trip me up.

Like the phrase "spinning in their graves"
or "give me a hand"
>>
>>8925512
Fuck, I get this sometimes, do I have something?

I was in the grocery store listening to that Macintosh Plus vaporwave album and one of the tracks started repeating "It's all in your head, it's all in your head" and I had a moment where I stood there having existential horror creeping in on me like "wait, is this all in my head?" lol

Then sometimes people will say things, maybe in text, and I'll read it wrong and be like really paranoid that they meant something else, with it implying some sinister weird philosophical aspect of reality that surrounds me

Wait fuck do I have schizophrenia
>>
>>8925519
I believe in thought dimensions where peoples ideas flow and interact with each other and there a sprits that communicate information throughout time

And I hate the number 5

But the numbers 4 6 and 7 are divine to me
ever since i was a kid i always add up digits of numbers i see to see if they add up to 4 5 6 or 7 and avoid women i am attracted to who have 5 letters in their name
>>
>>8925519
schizophrenia is a spectrum it will exasterbate if you put yourself under stress
>>
>>8924885
Yeah, it clearly says:
>schizophrenic patients had an elevated mean blink (31 vs 23 blinks/min for normals, P less than 0.05) which was normalized by neuroleptic treatment

Then you can edit and manipulate your hallucinations like Sherlock
>>
>>8924999
See doctor quickly. Schizophrenia is a degenerative disorder and gets progressively worse as you grow older, not better. It also is more likely to show up late teens to adult, the possibility is very real and should not be ignored, and can cause physical brain damage if not treated. (shrunken prefontal cortex)
>>
>>8925763
Can you provide a source
>>
>>8925285
Actual replier here

Thats exaggerated and of course a rudimentary display of symptoms but its accurate. I believe the reenactment is not meant to give you a realistic understanding but rather just some shocking insight. That would be a very extreme and developed case of schizophrenia. The ending is actually accurate. Studies show that sociability drastically reduces the psychotic symptoms of schizophrenics. The video failed to show positive symptoms such as confused or dissociative speech but the delusions and hallucinations were accurate. I'm also unsure of how maniacle these can be. I've seen several cases from which the 'voices' were actually quite benevolent and kind and very few where they're mean, cold-hearted. Its not a delusion of persecution but its still hallucinative thinking.

Tldr; video was 80% unrealistic.
>>
>>8925812
The voices are much faster than that
>>
>>8925819
most of them are so fast that sometimes you can't consciously hear what they are all saying
>>
>>8925819
Would you say more tightly laced together or quicker in bursts?
>>
>>8925822
Are you a schizofag because I'm fairly interested in individual cases because for each one I look at, the categorical definitions in the dsm 5 become more and more general. Personally, I think they're missing certain levels of the spectrum.
>>
>>8925829
Yeah but im not medicated
>>
>>8925824
If im not mentally occupied they are tightly laced together like stream of consciousness
>>
>>8925832
Might I ask why you chose not to be medicated. Abilify or some other antipsychotic could do you some good.
>>8925834
Could this be evidence as to why social integration dampens psychotic symptoms? Possibly, the processing power of the mind is limited so it allocates more energy to paying attention to the task at hand, keeping the detrimental parts of your mind less active.

Also, how well do you sleep and what do you study
>>
>>8925840
I do computer science/ computer engineering
>>
>>8925840
Its because the presence of other people makes one evaluate his own behavior and people are unpredictable so there are a lot of entry points for hostile forces
>>
>>8925840
I keep myself sane by doing mathematics problems and puzzles and I work at my uni as an IT technician
>>
>>8925872
>>8925840
Its easy for me to get emotionally entranced and obsessed with women I am close to but by some coincidence they are all jewish women so i attribute it to some conspiracy that the jews are trying to take me down. I have delusions of granduer but every normal person has an ego so it would make sense for me to have delusions about my own ego
>>
At this point i cant even say my paranoia is unfounded after the Wikileaks email release vault 7 and the trump election
>>
I can alter the types of voices in my head by the type of media i consume

So after i took my intro psych class
I was constantly listening to Sigmund Freud books on audiobook so I could psycoanalyse myself in real time
>>
Im not medicated becuase medications can exasterbate the condition by Tardive Dyskinesia and Dopamine super sensitivity and I want to be a head of a company one day and this can be used to blackmail me

I've had similar
I sat on 4chan all day every day even at the highest peaks of my schizophrenic breaks and my voices and hallucinations ended up being memes. I thought I could telepathically communicate with 4channers and control the time to always be 4:20, needless to say, I never told my psych about this.
>>
>>8925953
That sucks, but at the same time it's undeniably funny as fuck.
>>

>>
>>8925953

anon you responded to

ironically, it all started after doing acid the first time, where I then believed that acid was the "philosophers stone" and would give me all the answers and secrets to life. I took acid a total of 4 times in 3 weeks trying to figure out an entire life plan and it really fucked me up. I had symptoms of schizo before the acid though, such as paranoia and hallucinations but acid brought it all to the foreground. such a shame because I still want to do acid again.

>>8925494
If you'd of told me this a month or more earlier I would have believed you and went on a quest, but no,
I've tested it out in many occasions and the only time I got a response out of someone telepathically was when we were both in the peak of an acid trip and we both confirmed afterwards. It's most likely seeing connections where there is none and since acid trips often mimic schizophrenia, I'm going to assume it has something to do with extra chemicals in the brain.

Bear in mind that great stress can cause hallucinations.

During finals week ill have full on auditory hallucinations of demonic chants and garbled voices talking to me in my room as well as other random sounds that arent happening

>>8925956
yeah, I still laugh at it, it still happens but now I've switched my focus from being a neet schizo on disability to more scientific mostly linguistic (inb4 why linguistics) neet on disibility. I'll never be able to get a job. I just got off task but what I mean to say is my voices now talk about science which is cool.

ask yourself what you find most important, there you go, work on that until you complete it, then ask yourself what you find important again, etc.
If what you find most important is a really big project that will take several years, make smaller goals in that bigger goal, and try not to make unnecessary stress by making yourself "busy" with sidetracking and procrastination. If your going to procrastinate, procrastinate by doing something that will help the bigger goal.

>>8926016
I also know to expect hallucinations but then they pop out of nowhere 10x worse

Paranoid schizo here,
along with telepathy dilusions came the thought that absolutely everyone could hear my thoughts as with me thinking I could hear everyones thoughts, I didn't fap for 5 whole months as I didn't want popel to know when and what I was fapping to, meaning naked people repulsed me.
