Because current basic education isn't geared for STEM students since most people are incapable of entering a highly academic field. Instead you are taught what you need to know to function as a normie. Sure a middleschooler could learn set theory, but it probably isn't going to be relevant in their lives.

Why isn't propositional logic a required course? You'd think functioning adults would understand simple shit like that "all men are mortal/Socrates", but... a high percentage apparently don't in my experience. Not joking.

Boolean Algebra in both sets (so set algebra) and logic was taught in HS here. Europe.

It is though. I learned a fair amount of set theory in 7th through 9th grade. Not particularly advanced set theory, mind you, but enough to understand sets and their applications to other math
