>engineers honestly believe the Dirac Delta is a function
It's properly fubction, it's just not a real valued function.

generalized functions are functions

My man
Anyone here have a link to a paper/pdf/video something you recommend that deals with the Dirac Delta rigorously? I am only interested in its mathematical properties, not applications.

It's a distribution
Same thing, really

Technically a distribution is a linear mapping and hence a function.
Though technically a vector in R^n is a function {1,...,n} -> R as well.
In fact, once you redefine the real numbers as the special case n=1, there doesn't seem to be anything in analysis that [math]isn't[/math] a function.
