Archimedes and Newton were pretty smart for their time but the average scholar, I'd say, is smarter. you listed people like Tao and Einstein and below Newton and Archimedes... they're definitely higher in absolute intelligence and knowledge. Archimedes and Newton had the privilege of being the first to establish something... it's not that what they did was that hard to figure out.
