There is evidence that the brain is gendered and there is an area which creates the feeling of belonging to your biological sex. Neurologically you can have conflicting gender to sex or have an agendered sensation about your sex. Basically the brain creates the gender identity.

As for biological sex there is XY, XX, XXY genders so there are at least 3 sexes if you consider a unique chromosomal set a sex.

the only way i see bill nyes bullshit making sense is if you take the definition of gender, the state of being male or female, so exactly two genders, and say 'well it's on a spectrum so you can be more male or more female', which can be explained through hormonal imbalances and your brain developing differently, ergo a disorder

Social issues are up for debate but once something becomes a scientific fact it cant really be refuted. And then a bunch of sexual preferences and basic personality traits which are erroneously called genders. Transexuals are simply when the body made a mistake and mismatched, intersex people are biological disorders and aren't actually a new biological gender, as you are a biological boy if you have a Y and a biological girl if you don't. If your cells are a mosaic of Y and no Y then you can choose I guess but you definitely aren't your own shit, because there are only 2 variations of the chromosome that determines biological sex, although you are almost assuredly infertile.

XXY Xo XXX XYY humans cannot reproduce at all. They can have sex but they don't make any gamets. They aren't different sexes. If they have a Y or more they are males (=penis), if they have only X they are females (=vagina)

Gender isn't a scientifically valid concept in the way it is currently talked about. If it is to be divorced from biological sex it only makes sense as a sort of sexual signalling mechanism that taps into certain innate and socially reinforced attractions and drives. In which case their are really an infinite number of genders because each individual has a unique sexual strategy (or lack thereof) and it becomes useless to speak of gender except in the same broad wishy washy strokes you would talk about things like sub-cultures or trends.

There's two sexes, male and female. Gender is the social attributes we tie to sex, boys become men and girls like dolls. Since it's more like a form of social expression you could see it as a spectrum from masculine to feminine.

People get confused because they use the term "gender" when they really mean "sex" aka someone's biological sex. There are more than two genders because there are no genders really at least if you're talking about biology.
