You joke but I manually have to add 8 and 16 to 40 every time for 8*6, 8*7

During the Cold War, when conformity was seen as a form of patriotism, school children were taught math by chanting multiplication tables in unison:
"two times tow is four, two times three is six, two times four is eight".
...and people bitch about common core, ffs.

Do you feel the Bern?

>the cold war
Well I memorized mine during the Afghanistan war when it first started
I'm pretty sure they're called times tables because they were formatted in a table to be memorized
1 2 3 4
1 1 2 3 4
2 2 4 6 8
3 3 6 9 12
4 4 8 12 16
And so on
Yes my school chanted them too
No memorizing isn't a bad thing
Also common core was after my time but when I looked at the curriculum they were teaching kids how to do math the way I've always done mental math.
It's not bad just not traditional.
