What does /sci/ think about Michio Kaku?
>>
I don't know all that much about him, but watching a youtube video of him trying to explain string theory to normies made me want to start cutting again.
>>
His book Hyperspace is absolute garbage. Never read it. Don't know much about his actual scientific contributions though.
>>
Guilty of being a science popularizer, but still better than Bill Nye or Neil deGrasse Tyson, since he actually wrote some textbooks.

Except for his QFT one, they're pretty garbage. His QFT one is a nice alternative to Weinberg (in terms of topics covered,
it's more advanced but less detailed than PS or Schwartz) if you don't want to bogged down by the sometimes unnecessary formality (since after all QFT is an unfinished subject). No one should bother with his (or half of the now popular Beckerx2 Schwarz) book for String Theory. That can only be properly done with Polchinski and a shit load of review articles for the more recent stuff.

He whores himself to 'Ancient Aliens'.

How do you know it's garbage if you've never read it?
>>
Kinda boring.

I found his research on super-symmetry to be very insightful. The paper was co-authored by Bill Nye and it established that strings exist on a spectrum.

I think you've come to the wrong board. This is Science & Math, not Doctor Who General

Meme scientist, bur he's not full of bullshit like some others
>>
He's a popularizer that suffers the same problem all modern popularizers have: once outside their area, they simply regurgitate popsci without any qualifiers.
>>
pure meme scientist

Memeo Keku
>>
spends a little too much time talking about pseudoscience.
>>
Watched him a lot on the Science Channel back in my high school days in mid 2000s. Was some really interesting stuff.
