Hey /sci/, for fun name tour favorite fictional element, mineral, alloy or material, and what properties make it special. Not talking devices or inventions, talking about substances that appear in movies, books, etc. that would be great if they were real.
My vote -- Cavorite. It is "opaque to gravity," gravitational effect from an object on one side of a sheet of cavorite are not felt on the other side.
Pour a puddle of molten cavorite on the ground, and when it hardens, the air above it is no longer held down by gravity and goes fountaining off into space until the wind gets under the edge and it gets blown away into the cosmos (being impervious to gravity, it des not take much pressure to blow a sheet of it away.).
A sphere covered in cavorite shutters is not impacted by gravity at all -- until you open a shutter on one side and let the gravity of whatever is in that direction pull you along. Great for traveling to the moon, if you don't have a giant cannon in Florida.

Tachyons
According to an urban legend which I just made up, shitposters from the future are capable of sending tachyons into fiberoptic cables in the past, because the network infrastructure of the internet remains unchanged for centuries. As the tachyons travel backwards in time, some of them slow down and become photons which interfere with the internet. Why? For the explicit purpose of manipulating the post timings on a certain anonymous Turkish fingerpainting forum, thereby creating legendary gets.
The shitposters can observe the tachyon pulse as it travels around the entire time circuit and returns to them (time is a closed loop so tachyons which don't slow down go all the way back to the singularity, tunnel through to the heat death of the universe, and then continue moving towards the initial time when the tachyon pulse was sent). The future shitposters then observe the waveform of the rebound pulse, which is altered by the time it reaches them, as tachyons are lost when some of them slow down and become photons in the past. Using their advanced computing technology, they can directly view the past by interpreting the tachyon wave. The primary use of this technology is causing consequence-free mayhem throughout the multiverse.
