i'm curious what would happen if you pushed on an object with negative mass. you pushing on it would exert a force on it directed away from you, which cause it to move towards you, exerting a force on your hands towards it. would just touching it cause it and your hand to collapse into nothingness?

Normal mass pulls on space-time in a sense, so I'd assume "negative mass" would expand it somehow, kinda like dark energy, if it exists.

In other words, it would push "positive mass" away. It would flip the signs on equations of gravity.

What would we do with it? Not a whole lot. It would make mass even more of an analogy to electromagnetics, but EM is a stronger force than gravity. Seeing as we aren't using huge differences in electric charge to get spacecraft in orbit, we probably wouldn't use "negative mass" for it either.
