If they started an antibiotic course I guess they have some basis to suspect an infection.
The antibiotic choice does seem strange to me though.

The systemic prednisone before it is weird. Do you have vasculitis or was it a guess?

CBC, ESR, and ANCA are normal. Haven't had a CRP. They scraped some of the lesions and took samples. I've had a low grade fever and scratchy throat, but I'm otherwise okay. I've been getting a lower back ache that kind of resembles sciatica though.

They're treating this as a large number of coincidental medical problems, hence why they're trying to treat it as hot tub folliculitus.

When I say "doctor," that's really a simplification. I've seen around ten people ranging from rheumatology to neuroopthalmology and they still don't know what's going on. My chief complaint has been vision loss but the other neuropathies haven't become a legitimate problem until the last two months. My vision loss most closely resembles this hyper-rare condition called AZOOR, but with some things that don't quite fit. Supposedly I'm on a national mailing list for unsolved cases of vision loss now.

It's worse this morning.

I don't think you can culture a virus that's only for bacteria. An immune response test is used for herpes. My sister had Ramsay Hunt syndrome from shingles and it caused vision problems, head aches even partial facial paralysis. I would go to a GP and ask for a second opinion if it's not herpes related: zoster, hsv1, hsv2.

I see lots of flashing lights, have enlarged blind spots, and I'm missing my peripheral vision. The photoreceptor layer is thinning out on the periphery and the retinal arterioles are narrowing. There's no sign of vascular leakage though.

Do you have any genetic disorders in your family?
Have you ever had an auto-immune disorder, even stomach or gut problems (IBS, colitis)?
How long have you been on prednisone and what dosage?

You don't have shingles, because you'd know from the extreme pain and you'd have a more severe rash. Describe your rash in more detail. Do the sores have liquid inside them?

I had shingles and luckily caught it early, but I still developed nerve damage. Trust me you don't want that, since you don't have shingles you need to isolate this quickly. Your symptoms are indicative of something either viral or auto-immune attacking your nervous system. If the damage is too severe you could die or live in pain for the rest of your life. See a specialist immediately, or go to the ER.
