Why does the universe exist? Does it serve a purpose or does it simply define other purposes, being purposeless itself

How can we fight /pol/

yea but why does it happen.
doesnt every elementary particle serve some purpose? what purpose does the universe serve?
AKA particles are a piece of the puzzle to the mechanics of the universe, what piece is the universe to what puzzle
at what speed must a tennis racket be swung so that the potato, which was thrown into the air, will be cut into strips without flinging it away.

The universe simply happens. Purpose is a man made idea that doesn't correspond with the reality outside of our heads.

According to my calculations at least 9000 miles an hour.

so whatever reaction particles are privy too is what defines them in the first place?
see i always thought human understanding arose from recognition of fundamental properties, which always have existed. Sure we call them green or hot or whatever but they are still results of a reaction

I mean if you're asking what the ultimate goal of the universe is, I don't see why there should be one. If anything the value of the universe should be in its overall existence, not in some ending conclusion.
Onto your other point, certainly certain aspects of humans' thought and perception correlate with the outside universe. There's no real defining line here, but that doesn't mean some things like vision represent reality a lot whereas there may be other things like emotion that don't represent anything external.
Certainly being able to process certain aspects of the world external to our brain has evolutionary merit as does having things like emotion which are more illusionary
