Does anyone know anything about the starlite (material) so we can find out what it is and for those who don't know what it is Starlite was claimed to be able to withstand attack by a laser beam that could produce a temperature of 10,000 degrees Celsius

Sounds like a bullshit claim, if true all it would mean is there is little to no kinetic energy transfer between photons and the atomic structure of this substance.

Look up the class of materials called "aerogels"
Minimal heat transfer due to science
Aerogels would be a Pretty close but it wouldn't be it as star lite is more as a durable plastic which can absorb more heat

>Mr Greenbury did however persuade Mr Ward to let him take some Starlite to Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge in the UK where it was put through tests to examine its thermal conductivity.
>It was there that Mr Lewis took a closer look through an electron microscope and was staggered by what he saw.
>He was[sic] an array of ‘small voids’ between two and five micrometres wide on the surface of the Starlite which gave it insulation and lowered its thermal conductivity.

Well if any of us knew we'd be billionaires on international TV so what the fuck are you asking us for?

It's just an ablative, no big deal.

>Make cool material
>Refuse to do anything with it
>Take the process to the grave
What's the fucking point
>yfw it's ceramite

>laser beam that could produce a temperature of 10000 degrees celsius
So much wrong with this statement

It's "fricken laser beams," get it right, this is a science board.

Oh shut up.
