Who works here? What experiment do you work in? What is your position? How are you enjoying it so far?
I am joining LHCb for a PhD and was wondering what to expect.

Expect a lot of politics, a lot of competition and a lot of work for just a second of attention. It's honestly pretty horrible. I better hope you are with a group with someone who has some authority in the collaboration. If not, expect to be completely ignored.

I had heard about similar experiences and was quite disappointed. Is that what you went through? Luckily I should be working on a fairly prominent analysis so maybe it will be a bit easier, we'll see how it goes.

Remember that time I tweeted my discovery to every CERN handle on Twitter, and then the story was that Brian Cox has caused big dust up on Twitter by saying slightly the wrong thing about some technical detail on TV show?

>Is that what you went through?
No, just know a bunch of people here working on it. So take it with a grain of salt, people usually tend to exaggerate when they are frustrated. Still, my feeling is that you really need to want that shit. Other collaborations are much much more relaxed.
