why is everyone cocked up about the place 40light years away when this place is just 4 light years away?
why haven't we really gone anyway in outer space other then the (((moon)))?

We don't live in a sci-fi

Because they forgot about it. Most people are like goldfish, in that they're retarded.

Because it's expensive and the Soviet Union collapsed. Once we have really delved into developing reusable booster technology and have reduced the cost of space flight we will probably see increased interest in space travel as well as space development.

Travelling at the speed of light isn't exaclty like it sounds.

Also, I think humans probably someday will found out a way to travel to great distances, but yet, we haven't even technology to survive at Europa because of radiation, that seems so basical stuff compared to "distorting time-space to travel faster than light".

his point is that it doesn't matter if something is 1 lightyear or a billion light years away
At this point both are 100% inaccessible to us with our current technology -- or any projected technology in any possible future.
It'd be like if you were standing on the ground and somebody said okay now you have to jump (under your own power) 40 km in the air. Then they were like, good news! You only have to jump 4 km in the air! This should be way easier.
