>I'm really good at math so I'm majoring in Accounting.
How do you know you're good at maths if you've never done maths ?
>>8705252
>true math is only higher math
>being good at the basics is not a hint that you are good at the more advanced stuff
>>8705257
Being able to walk is not a hint at being able to be an Olympic athlete
Being able to add and fucking subtract doesn't mean you're even remotely competent at even differentiation
>>8705252
>maths
mathematics isn't plural. it's math.
>>8705246
>tfw physics student but such at basic arithmetic
>>8705246
Specialize in tax avoidance, 500K starting.
This translates to
>im really good at adding and subtracting
>sometimes dividing and multiplying
>dont even have to use my fingers
>>8705274
> believing bullshit arguments given by made-up linguists
I'll write maths however I please, now fuck off.
>>8705309
the fact that you posted this image unironically because you thought it was funny or something
fucking kill yourself
calm down guys, don't get a big dick.

Calculus hasn't been math for hundreds of years.
>>8705257
Hey, Physics PhD at Oxford here; C grade at maths at GCSE.
>>8705274
>mathematics isn't plural. it's math.
I am going to do a math.
>I really love science so I'm majoring in Sociology
>>8705276
>tfw quantum mechanics PHD but can't count on my fingers
>>8705328
Enough you useless algebra fag, probably in your 3rd year.
Calculus always was an important part of maths, can't do calculus, can't do maths.
Hey i got my CPA and im doing really well for myself, accounting can make great cash
>>8705337
proof
is 840/980 (87th percentile) on the Math GRE any good? Pic related, score a guy at my uni got, but he's a Rhodes Scholar
>>8705339
>i am going to do a maths
>>8705246
Arithmetic is tufff desu
>>8706676
I had 86th in verbal and 98th on quantitative with less than a week of preparation. Only got a 4 on written though.
>>8706676
Yes it's good. Not supremely astounding but it's good.
>>8707013
He means the subject test.
I can tutor in calc 1, so it would be best if you let me handle all the maths here
My AP Biology teacher in high school once said she was very good with numbers because she could solve Hardy-Weinberg shit without a calculator
>>8705246
>i majored in math so I'm becoming an accountant
>tell people working shitty jobs that I'm an accounting major
>they say I must be good at math
No, if I'm good at math, I would be working on wallstreet
>>8705272
>differentiation
>any harder than arithmetic
lol
>>8705246
Being effective at using basic calculations reliably and often is still being "good at math" even if you don't value it as much. Some with accounting as engineering.
>>8707082
*same, not some.
I don't claim to be good at english by any metric.
>>8705274
Then why not say that "mathematic isn't plural"? What's the 's' for?
>>8707082
>Being effective at using basic calculations reliably and often
lel just use excel
>>8705272
>Being able to walk is not a hint at being able to be an Olympic athlete
It's a hint if only a few people are able to walk.
If you are able to do the basics well you might not be Von Neumann, but you're at least more apt to study further than the people who struggle with it.
>>8705274
DO NOT TRY TO REVIVE IT EVER AGAIN
>>8705272
>being able to do highschool math doesn't mean you're even remotely competent at highschool math
>>8705284
500k tax-free starting
>>8707149
it is true, though
>>8705246
ther'es literally nothing wrong with going into Accounting if you are good at math. Math skills can only be a benefit in that field right?
>>8707446
this is true. if someone is career oriented, good at math, and willing to work in the field, then accounting is a perfectly reasonable line of work.
a related, but better paying, field is actuarial sciences. if you like the part of scientific experiment data analysis which deals with curve fitting and measurement, it is similar to that, but for finance instead
The implication is that being good at arithmetic equates to being good at math. However, arithmetic is only a single aspect of math.
>I'm good at arithmetic so I'm going to major in accounting.
>good at math
math as in solving problems or remembering formulae?
>>8707464
Can't you figure out the algorithm on your own?
>>8707051
