They get to have ID's and stuff. This is a legitimate question. Wouldn't we be able to cut down on a lot of the garbage posting if we had ID too?
I understand why Qst needs ID, for convenience of highlighting posts, but /Pol/ over /Sci/? Seems like both should be treated the same.
How would that cut down garbage posting?

Stopping same person pretending to be more than one person would be one.
Can you think of any others?
It would definitely make my percieved shitposting a lot easier
but /pol/ is nothing but garbage posting
and /qst/ needs them to function

Already mentioned that in the OP. Qst needs them, but Pol? Why would pol need them over sci? Shouldn't pol and sci be treated the same with regards to ID stuff. Doesn't make sense.
IDs don't cut down on garbage posting, especially since IDs aren't consistent across threads. It just shows us which idiots are dumb enough to try and fake an argument or lie about who they are in a chain of replies within a thread without changing IPs between posts.

I think it still makes a difference. Within a thread is where it counts.
It would cut down on confusion when people are arguing with each other.
Also it would stop people bumping their own threads, or at least we would be able to shame them for it
/pol/ is only good when the conversation is good, then it's spectacular. /sci/ is good so long as intelligent people are known on 4chan.
/pol/ isn't bad sometimes and that's only possible with flags and ids. A good /pol/ makes 4chan better and smarter. A bad /pol/ would make 4chan bad and stupid.

Also, anons can't lie about education, IQ, and when talking about qualifications and academics, we know one person.
A person pretending to a MIT student can't say shit if he's in INDIA. More stuff like that.

No, /pol/ is nothing but shitposts. What might help is if the fucking janitor did his/her fucking job.
