As for why certain changes are made to molecules in order to produce a desired effect, it requires understanding the structure of receptors in the brain and how certain molecular shapes might fit into it.

Look at the molecule in your picture. Now compare it to one of the precursors used - pseudoephedrine.

If you have a good understanding of organic chemistry you can figure out what set of reactions this molecule has to undergo to become methamphetamine.

If you are interested, start with a chemistry book, then go into org chem. If you are interested in psychedelics and stimulants you can read most of Alexander Shulgins work.

Don't try to do anything stupid, because you might end up blowing yourself up.

First get the meth's. Maybe do a min wage job at a factory or distribution center to meet some of those peeps.

Second enroll in college or just download some math books.


Set aside a place and time where you smoke meth and do math for like 12 hours.

Boom thanks to the neuroplasticity+neurogenesis + learned place preference effect of methamphetamines, you are literally speed training your brain to learn maths and enjoy it. Now, after about two weeks of conditioning you can easily quit meths and enjoy life as a math genius and probably a few really weird stories.
