>grad student at Princeton
Will he be the next great mathematician, or will he be another major disappointment like Reid Barton and Gabriel Carroll?

>>solved two major previously unsolved problems
which?
>>8654185
>being awarded for being literate
>>8654185
>tfw you didn't even win the spelling bee at your own school
Why even live?
>>8654185
No. Those types very rarely actually do anything significant.
>>8654204
Most people don't do anything significant in their lives
>>8654200
>tfw you were state champ then purposely fucked up for nationals in order to stay out of the public eye
Fuck that shit man. Glad I did that. Otherwise, some faggot like the OP would make threads about me.
>>8654204
Where the fuck do savants go after their grad studies are finished, anyway?
What kind of jobs can someone only has the capacity to work in pure maths even do? University researcher?
People like this clearly don't have the social skills to hold down a real job
>>8654231
They become neets and shitpost online all day.
>>8654200
>tfw state champ in history and current events contests two years in a row
>tfw no nationals because it was all run by the state
feels goodman
>>8654185
> spelling bee
what's the point
>>8654276
In America you're considered smart if you can spell words in your native language.
>>8654276
To encourage children to learn how to spell shit correctly? It's fucking annoying when someone has ridiculously bad spelling and I don't mean a few mistakes here and there I mean when you start wondering whether they are dyslexic or not.
>>8654314
the vast majority of burgers can read and write anything they can think
>>8654394
That's... optimistic.
>tfw born in a country where you are expected to know how to spell
>>8654185
You have to remember there are literally child prodigies, IMO medalists, etc. in literally every PhD program in the top 25. Most of these types of people will graduate top of their class, get good postdocs, and eventually a tenur track position at a decent school, if they're lucky.. Just remember that 100% of tenured faculty at top 10 schools were basically geniuses of their grad programs. This guy being this good at this point means nothing in terms of bcoming "the next great mathematician." I don't think it'd be unreasonable for him to get professorship at a good unviersity, though.
>>8654185
>Americans are so retarded you're considered a genius for knowing how to spell your own mother tongue
