Prove to me, that space and time are not discrete, but continuous. What if the universe is discrete on a scale smaller than the Planck-scale? Any experiments?
>>
>>8647825
I don't think that's provable but it's definitely a possibility considering the Planck constant exists.
>>
>>8647833
And wouldnt you be able to measure the 'rounding errors' with enough measurements?
>>
>>8647888
Not sure.
>>
if the universe were continuous there would be an infinite amount of energy in every point. Think about what it means to heat up something and now imagine you could pump infinite energy in it: it would explode instantly.
>>
>>8648053
Why would be there infinite energy at every point? Infinite points do not mean infinite degrees of liberty.

>if the universe were continuous there would be an infinite amount of energy in every point
I hope you're gonna explain the reasoning behind that spicy conclusion
>>
>>8648678
>>8648673
I think he means you could pack an arbitrary amount of energy into an arbitrarily small region, which goes against current evidence.
>>
>>8648685
What is the current evidence?
>>
who thinks the universe is continuous? Do physicists even understand what the set of real numbers or infinity means?

Also what meaning have numbers, really? Math is just a construct we use to explain shit in robust terms, reality is just too complex for us to understand without using math (let that sink for a moment).
>>
>>8648949
it also might be too complicated to understand with math, but we wouldnt know because we dont have anything else yet.
