I agree, all is well with being a brainlet but when you actually progress you realise you actually knew nothing, doing MRes and realising I'm going to have to change myself, in hindsight doing well academically is high intelligence and being motivated enough to put it to practice, it holds your knowledge/intelligence to candlelight, the way in which you respond defines how you progress,
If you find yourself thinking "I didn't do well enough because academia is based on training a workforce rather than pursuing science" then you are probably letting your emotions stifle your development, you've got to push past it and identify what you didn't do, really dedicate your time to doing assignments and reading around the subject, if you are still reading this and disagreeing with me then your narcissism is beyond help and you should kys,
