They are two possible presentations of Reality. But they are not Reality.
>>8636050
light is light. It behaves as it behaves.
>>8636050
Long wavelengths: Radio Waves, Microwaves, Infrared, and Visible light behave like waves.
Short wavelengths: Ultraviolet, X-Rays, and Gamma Rays behave like particles.

m8, the entirety of reality is one big probability wave simulator and the present time is just when the wave function collapses
It travels as a wave and arrives as a particle.

little creepy..

so spacetime has mass too?

what about light?

>>8636819
Light doesn't have mass it just has momentum. E^2=p^2*c^2+m^2*c^4
>>8636819
Nope, it acts as if it has mass due to the subsiquential effect of EMR, which happens to be known as gravity. so whilst in contact with a body emmiting EMR at a closer distance to its source it will act as if it has a mass proportional to the distance from its source and inversely prepotional to the distance of source of EMR of the second body, this allows photons to act whilst under a foreign 'gravitational force' as if they have mass.
So basically they are effected by gravitations that are not their source, producing an effect similar to mass
It behaves as both but is neither. It is energy. The way i think of it, is electron shells of near (relatively speaking) atoms naturally attempting to synchronize. The more energetic waves influence less energetic ones. This is an oversimplification, but you should get the picture.
>>8636826
someone please answer this. to say that light bends because of gravity suggests that it has mass. yet it doesnt have mass. so therefor it must be following a spacetime warping vector and not falling... err wait isnt falling just following a warped spacetime vector
im so fucking confused
>>8637437
it has mass, scientists are just being huge pussies.
>>8637440
>energy
>mass

I thought the pilot wave theory was disproven?
>>8636150
Wrong
>>8637437
The whole point of GR is that all bodies fall at the same rate in a gravitation field not because of some weird coincidence of gravitational and inertial mass being equal, but because they all experience the same curvature of spacetime. Light is included in that.
If you were to stand on an infinite plane with a constant downward gravitational acceleration (and no air resistance), and you dropped a ball at the same time as turning on a laser parallel to the ground, both the ball and the laser would hit the ground at the exact same instant.

staright up saying "light has mass" sounds fucking retarded
>>8636050
Photons phase shift between dimensions thus giving the illusion of behaving in a wave motion.
Strings
>>8637437
i think your delving into unknown areas of physics. essentially though and this is not a good exp. light does follow the spacetime vector and things that fall also fall along a spacetime vector but here is where the physics is fundamentally lacking unless anyone can answer. Things that fall, or free fall, actually have no forces acting upon them at all and are actually not moving. Gravity is an illusion that muddles up things in high level physics.
tl;dr things that are 'falling' (freefall) arent actually even fucking moving
im a phd student and i dont really understand the details of it but thats a start
>>8641407
Wait. What if photons are joined through string theory to a companion light particle. Thus as one particle enters our universe the other exits. The motion of the light particles in orbit around each other would explain the wave properties.
>>8641409
this may also be relevant.... particles that move along the spacetime vector (in free fall*?) are actually intertial and don't move relative to eachother.
fields
Particles and waves are stories of stories you see in your representation of things that are an accumulation of the tiny thing you want to behave like the story of a particle or a wave.
It is neither. It is its own narrative object and does not have to inherit any stories of other things just because you can't make up a story for it by itself.

extent as other interpretations - not even proven. and the original question is ignored to spew this shit. nope.

Space what now?
Space does not bend nor is time a part of it.
Now every body/particle radiates EMR essentially the greater mass/accumulation of radiating particles will lead to a greater field of EMR.(large dense objects will emit have a relitivly larger field of EMR.) Light being a spectrum of EMR observable to us acts tends to act predominantly with other bodies of EMR and not so much the physical mass of that body. Gravity is the force produced by EMR so it effects a 'photon of EMR' proportional to its source strength and distance from its source and the relative strength of the intersected field of EMR.
The measurable effect of time is the difference created by intersecting waves of EMR(universe isn't expanding, new waveforms are getting shorter )
And space acts as more of a liquid than an elastic fabric. As most would have you believe.
Long story short, its a wave it is effected by gravity because gravity is a wave. Not a space bender.

>If you were to stand on an infinite plane with a constant downward gravitational acceleration (and no air resistance), and you dropped a ball at the same time as turning on a laser parallel to the ground, both the ball and the laser would hit the ground at the exact same instant.
How long does it take for a ball (or laser) to hit the ground when dropped into an infinite plane with a constant downward gravitational acceleration?
