Oh, interesting. Your picture reminded me of modern day idiots who drill holes from their nose to their brain so that more oxygen can reach their brain.

I was trying to look up the name, and I think it is called "Trepanning" as well.

Anyway, yeah, that's a stupid idea, and, if you get infected from this hole, you are kind of fucked.

my main concern is not that nobody does it anymore. i don't want trepanning to become like circumcision in the US. but it seems like nobody is doing any research on the effects of trepanning, because apparently it's still unknown how much of the effects it's said to have are real and how much is just overhyping, as you mentioned. it shouldn't really be THAT hard to find voluntary patients and drill a hole in their head, the operation can be done in literally 10 minutes.

well of course you shouldn't do this yourself, if you let a doctor do it chances of infection are very low and infection isn't really a big problem unless it's not treated. right?

as i said it is a medical treatment for certain patients, which have high brain pressure. when its already done how can you say there is no research done on it ? have you even searched for studys about this ?
