Why are there no programming languages for analog computers?
There were, just specific to that type of machine. A language is just what you do to compute a function.

Analog computers serve a single purpose, so you don't need much of a language to program them

they weren't computers in the same sense as a Turing machine
Analog computing was really more like the art of making a mathematic model of something using analog electronics

Characters are just numbers, implementation of the use of those numbers is what you know them as.
