What's the probabilty of having three dubs posts in a row /sci/?
>>8628427
well there are 10 pages on sci, each with ~14 threads on it. I'd say the chances a thread gets posted in goes down 2 times as you go to each new page. So the "total" chance for all the threads on sci adds up to be 14+7+3.5+1.75+.875+.4375+.21875+.109375+.0546875+.02734375
=27.97265625
Let's assume for simplicity that the thread was on the first page when the 3 dubs in a row occurred. So the chances this thread was posted in is 1/27.97265625=0.03574919703, with 10% chance of the post being dubs. Then the next 9 posts would have to be in other threads, so that's a (0.96425080296)^9 percent chance that happened. Then we just have to have this process happen twice more, so the chances of this happening are 0.00000170973 or .000170973%

don't we need the expected value of posts on /sci/ in one minute to predict this correctly?
