I don't know anyone inside the department like that at all. None.
You should probably read up on Mormon mythology concerning the Earth's creation. It is not in our scripture at all to believe in a young Earth. Anyone that does is being confused by the beliefs of other fundamentalist Christian religions and not our own doctrine. We believe in a pre-existence for all things, including the Earth. During this pre-existence the Earth was created in spirit, not physically. Think of it like drawing out on paper your plans for making a building before giving it to the contractor to build. That's the creation account in the Bible. The Pearl of Great Price however expands on this and explains that the physical Earth was DIRECTED by God. It's physical creation is not explained in any detail other than to say that it was done. This is pretty much it:

There is no conflict between an ancient Earth and Mormon doctrine.

If you confine "scripture" to be just the Bible and not any of the extra interpretations Joseph Smith et al. tacked on to it, then you don't even have Mormonism anymore.
It's trivial to find countless examples of major Mormon documents and leaders espousing young earth views.
Joseph Smith did it too: https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/77.6?lang=eng
Fuck, even the 1979 LDS-published Bible puts the Fall of Adam as happening in BC 4000.

A great man once said to me a simple form of brainwashing is repeating the same thing over and over again.
If you do leave the church as I did you may find yourself farther and farther away as time passes looking in at a rather weird angle. Having a tribe is cool and all but your beliefs are asinine and your payment requirements are absurd. My senpai has prob given around 600,000$ over 60 years and I've watched multiple generations go through this process.

Also Brigham young is cool because they charge less now than a state school and force religious brainwashing classes and requirements of conduct and make it back through tithing due to your increased income and loyalty to the church.
Brigham was a pimp

I was there a few months ago. Cool campus.

hey thanks <3
I've heard people say our campus looks like an office park (which is kinda understandable), so it's nice to hear people say nice things about it.
