60% of the electricity my country produces is from renewable resources. 40% from coal/oil.
If I reduce the time I spend on the computer, do I help reduce pollution from the oil/coal power plants? Or is it just burned anyway?

The short answer is yes.

Thanks, mate!

Yes, a computer isn't all that significant though, you'll make much more of a difference insulating your house better, eating less meat, or driving less

That is good to know.
Do you include nuclear in the "renewable" category ? For your information, nuclear is not a renewable energy. By the way, what's your country ?

Neither is wind or solar because the sun won't last forever

Portugal, no I'm not counting nuclear, here's the balance of november, 2016. http://www.apren.pt/fotos/editor2/11_boletim_energias_renovaveis-novembro.pdf

Wrong, according to this source,
http://shrinkthatfootprint.com/how-do-we-use-electricity
it's
industry-36%
households-31%
commercial-30%
transport-3%

According to this
https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=96&t=3
Computers only use 2% of the electricity of a house

residential energy usage is not quite the same as household usage, I don't think
Also, UK doesn't have air conditioning? Europoors are fucking poor

Germany here and I dont have an ac either. It just never gets that warm and even if, my apartement is well insulated.
Why would I want a huge aparatus built into my place just because theres one or maybe two weeks of temperatures higher than 25C during summer?
>>8594232
I'm in the US and I don't have AC, not everywhere has hot enough summers to need it
