I want to go to college for the physical sciences, but after a day of all honors classes (I'm a sophomore in high school) I don't even give a fuck. Should I spend less time playing video games and beating off to find out what field I actually want to get into?
You have to be 18+ to post here.
(Sign up for as many AP courses as you can for your junior and senior year, and take advanced math courses at your local community college your senior year. Try to discover and nurture an interest in a subject before going to college, and you will find yourself in a better position than 90% of those admitted. Video games, while fun, can be an enormous waste of time if you get carried away.)

In case you're serious.
Don't be an idiot.
Go do EE, CS, or Mech instead.
Science is not for ordinary people.

How "unordinary" do you really have to be if that's the case? I'm as ignorant as I sound about this.

He's being serious, but not in the way you expect. Lurk more.
If you go into engineering or CS, you will have an easy time finding a decent job upon graduating. At my university, the engineers had their hands held by the school and were practically walked into positions; you have to screw up big time to be an engineering major and not end up with a job.
On the other hand, if you study math, physics, or some other physical sciences, you will have to be far more responsible to ensure that you find a job. There are many different routes you can take within each of those majors. If you choose academia, you will probably regret it unless you're not "ordinary" as the other poster mentioned - you have to really love what you do or be really good at it, because you will be busy and working hard and not making a lot of money, and you'll be disappointed by the actual weight of your advanced degree.

physical sciences are if you like science--figuring things out, how they work, developing and testing hypothesis, falsifying theory, running experiments, analyzing data, etc. If NONE of those sound interesting, there are higher paying alternatives you might check out.

>Should I spend less time playing video games
Video games are good; they greatly improve your real time information processing skills.
>and beating off
Fapping is a time sink and makes Baby Jesus cry; stop it. Go find a girlfriend instead.
>to find out what field I actually want to get into
You're like 14, don't worry about finding a specialization and spend your time dipping into various subjects. Especially those subjects that you think you're going to dislike but don't know anything about them.

The CS bubble is about to pop. No one is going to want to hire those uneducated monkeys. Just look what happened to business majors.
