Fungi are ancient aliens and true masters of the Earth. They are capable of mind-reading and weak mind-control and have been using this for millennia to manipulate the course of human race development for own profit and well-being.

So why don't mods just give bans to these comedians?

I'll contribute:
>That there are many universes besides our own, and they each work differently than our own, so the "natural laws" we find in our universe are just subjective to us and there's nothing essential or fundamental in them
>That humans must have some amount of free will, otherwise life just feels so strange

The second statement is true because life actually feels really strange so freewill doesn't exist.

There is no objective truth. Proof: measure the length of your table exactly.

tl;dr everything in science is approximation
>>
>>8594492
There is an objective truth. You simply cannot measure it. All your imperfect measurements are part of it.
>>
>>8594654

The "Great Filter" is economics. It never is cost-effective enough to scrounge up enough money and labor to build an interstellar space ship, and then resources decline and your species deindustrializes or goes extinct. The universe is littered with the tombs of penny-pinching species that fell victim to the tyranny of small decisions.
>>
>>8594654
If we cannot measure it, can we imply it from our faulty measurements? I would suggest not. Which only leaves perceiving it, which does not meet the criteria of science. Therefore, as scientists we can not say with certainty that objective truth exists.

Science does not accept perception as reliable, yet is itself founded on intellectual premises which ultimately all find their source in human perception. Philosophy can never be objective. Some philosophers will disagree.

Contrast is necessary for our reality to exist. Everything can be broken down into two extremes. Thing vs nothing. Life vs non-life. Existence vs non-existence. Yin and Yang. Black and white. Positive and negative. Up and down. 0 and 1. It's all the same shit.

>Psych gets a bad wrap. All of medicine is laced with unscience that justworks(tm).

The reasons that medicine has "justworks" in it is because it does work.
It's difficult to draw similarities between medicine and more "theoretical" studies such as physics or math because medicine is more of an industrial science. Discoveries in medicine have one goal: to better people's lives (and pad the pockets of CEO's)

A physician is not a scientist, he's a worker who knows a bit about physiology, pathology, pharmaceuticals and the basics of biochemistry.
