Name one or more reasons how /sci/ actually improved your life in 2016

people think I'm smart now

>Uni threads
They allow me to share my grades and stories like if I was talking with the real life friends I don't have, therefore making me happier by being able to talk to "friends".
>SQT
Every time I had a problem too hard I asked and I was given answer.
>Math challenges threads
Gave me interesting things to think about and help me realize my knowledge boundaries are farther than I thought they were, by solving problems people had no idea how to solve.
Also, not related to any thread, now I have a nice hobby which I can engage in whenever I am bored of real life and which does not take too much time nor is destructive: advanced shitposting. Like right now, I'm posting this from my work. Great.

I fill gaps in my knowledge and test myself when I explain shit to people on here.
I also shitpost a lot.

According to /sci/ hospitals should be able to regrow working thyroids and put them back in place in decade.
I'm happy about that since I'm missing mine.

I've had one or two good conversations about why we like STEM stuff. Bonded with a few anons. This board has helped me to sustain my hope for the future.
/sci/ makes me smile when I see some person who got a GPA way better than me and bragged about his major blogpost about not being able to find a job while I'm working a modest entry level lab job for 50k a year at a company known for helping people move up the ladder with on the job training in the subject matter, knowing that I have nowhere to go but up.
No joke, it made me switch majors to computer engineering from physics.

why would any of that matter to you? You're working in your field, you've made it.
>>8571404
Good fucking choice. You will be 100x more marketable and have just as much fun.

I'm having way more fun, and career choice was why i switched. I just didn't think I'd get into the major, so figured, "well, math+physics is good enough..." then I came here.
