I've been looking into building a cool little flying craft which didnt require thrust from engines, I thought Ionocrafts(lifters) would be pretty nice, but I also wonder, is there any way that is feasible for the average /sci/ user to create a levitating craft which could also function in a vacuum?
Ionocrafts work by ion wind and also require oxygen, something not present in a vacuum.

No, because in a true vacuum there would be nothing to levitate.

Any kind of rocket would work. So would psychokinesis and anti-gravity beams.

Ion drives are essentially the same thing as the electron gun from a CRT TV. I could rig up something that produce a few atto Newtons of force; but that's not enough to get off the ground.
Magneterinos

Ion drive is just one of the potential effects of the lifter it can also work in other dielectrics than air.
Vacuum is a dielectric. Mineral oil is also a dielectric.

I don't think there is such a thing as a "true vacuum" there are still quantum fluctuations, electromagnetic wave forms, etc

>Vacuum is a dielectric
do you know how fucking much energy you would need to make a vacuum act like a dielectric? the only place we see that is near black holes.
