is there any meaning to pursue science and progress humanity? what motivates you to do this?
my honest suspicion is that you all just wanna immortalize yourselves, since death will be inevitable and having a legacy that won't die like a kid is valuable. but then this makes me ask why you want to immortalize yourself.

Just in physics to have fun and doing autistic math with it. Vidya doesn't fill my inner void anymore.
Sometimes it's to get away from retards who ask questions like this

>but then this makes me ask why you want to immortalize yourself.
since death will be inevitable and having a legacy that won't die like a kid is valuable To Be Honest With You Good Buddy My Man

why does that matter. you'd be dead.

immortality =/= death

>my honest suspicion
stop projecting dummy
I think you're projecting.
STEM ONLY WAY U GET JOB IN DIS ECONOMI MANG
I just enjoy it man

I just like to signal my superior intellect, math and physics are the best field to do so in.
It helps that I find it (for the most part) pretty interesting.

Kim Kardashian will be immortal. It's not simply immortality, it's uncovering an intangible piece of the underlying structure of the world.

>what motivates you to do this?
That's an awfully suspicious question.

I grew up very fascinated by math and science in general.
I am not religious, and if i have faith in anything it would be humanity.
To benefit humanity, which is more or less an ingrained philosophy from many years of protestant doctrine, i see physics and math as the best venue. I could teach, but as a researcher i could affect millions as opposed to thousands.
I do not want to be famous, and would do all i could in the event of some amazing discovery to keep myself out the public eye.
Idk man i genuinely really fucking love science and math, however i may end up using it.\\
>die like a kid
Also i do want to raise kids and money to support them is a huge aspect.
But nah, if anything id want people to know who i was after i died rather than what i did.
I just want to understand my own existence and how that interacts with the apparent reality around me. Physics, neuroscience, mathematics, philosophy, language, history... All of these things give me insight into myself and the world around me. Learning is beautiful I think.

>Learning is beautiful I think.
Seconded.
