I'm a brainlet so my head hurts after a few hours.
Grothendieck did ten hours and more a day for years.
Erdos would not sleep.
Can you reach a point when you are fresh and focused and only sleep the bare minimum for maintenance?
Just curious.

I went about a year and a half with only sleeping for 5-7 hours a day, and now my I have a funny tingling feeling in my brain that won't go away, and I've had it for almost a year now, although it's gotten much better, because I sleep a lot more now (7-9 hours). Sleep deprivation also made me depressed and gave me horrible anxiety to the point where I thought I was having heart attacks which made me lose more sleep.
Terrible experience, would not recommend, sleep is good for you, I learned the hard way.

An old friend of mine used to say that he never found a problem that couldn't be solved by a good nap.
go to sleep anon.

Did you eat well and do physical exercise?
Were you stressed?
I sleep like ~9 hours but I hear about people who get away with fair less.
Genetics?

Woke up not long ago from comfy sleep.
I wish I could nap though.
It's pretty impossible for me unless I'm sleep deprived.

Erdos also did amphetamines, lol.

Well, I mean I think it was also because I was going to bed at 8 pm and getting up at 2AM-3AM every day too, because being an early person is fun. However, I never really slept well that early. I only get marginally more sleep than I did before, but I sleep much deeper now that I just go to bet at 10pm-12am like a normal fucking person.
>Were you stressed?
Only about inane shit like heart cancer (being nervous makes your heart beat faster, which I can feel very vividly, so I though something was wrong, making it beat faster again, etc.) and dying of a stroke or something.
>Did you eat well and do physical exercise?
Meh
>Genetics?
yes I have genetics

I have a friend who only sleeps 3.5 hours a night
hes been that way for as long as I've known him; at least 17 years
one thing I've noticed is that he goes to sleep the moment he lays down, literally within 15 seconds
and he never seems groggy or tired at all during the day
>>8533212
Holy macaroni, does he look mentally and physically healthy?
>>8533214
No on both counts. but he functions just fine
and it's hard to say if the root cause is the sleep deprivation or pre-existing conditions coupled with NEET lifestyle

Shapiro was a schizo thus had overabundance of dopamine which kept him up all the time and Erdos used amphetamines and had OCD. Read any stories about his hand washing habits
