alright boys. I want to enlighten myself. I have $130 to spend on books and i'm trying to teach myself math and get to the more advanced stuff before i attend uni next year. i have a ok understanding of algebra and i skipped out of trig class so can someone recommend some text books i can get to lay down a foundation and then some textbooks i can get in the future to further my studies

Hogben - Handbook of Linear Algebra
I warn you it's a Goliath of a book

half of artin is linear algebra goof

But the whole of Hogben is, all 1477 pages

Don't study before uni. Just buy some weed instead.

An insane amount that is not necessary for a

Hogben is not a textbook. It has no problems and hardly any proofs. Its for reference not for learning.

what a nice guide for self teaching math. particularly the bible and the 2000 page electronics reference

Anyone got textbooks for physics and or applied enginiering? preferably online?
i know i'm asking for alot here but in all honesty, my school is shit at my major <physics> and would like to have some skills to fall back on...
>>8532464
For the love of God, do not buy textbooks. You can easily download them online or find them in a university library. The textbook industry is a giant scam.
>>8532625
>textbook industry
How dare tenured authors get compensation for writing a book single handily and then firing up their ancestors printing press to get it published
>>8532629
There are a small selection of textbooks that are actually reputable and decent. However, there are too many textbooks targeted at gullible undergraduates that go something like
>"University Physics for College Babbies Who Shouldn't Be Taking a Physics Course, the Contents of Which Were Totally Not Stolen From a Particular More Famous Textbook, 19th Edition" by 5 different no-name authors, $500 bucks please
These should be avoided at all cost.

James Stewart was a multi-millionaire just from printing numerous "editions" of his calculus book. So yes, the textbook industry is a huge scam! Google it yourself and see the monstrous mansion he built all from selling his overpriced textbooks.

Success in spivak without any experience in proofs or any experience in computational calculus is a long shot.
If you are an engineer and didn't read these before sophomore year you are a shit eating turbopleb.

For lecture watch videos first then do as at least every other odd for homework.
youtube will have videos for every section in a book
it is rare to not be able to do a problem
khan academy
patrickjmt
pauls math notes lamar
mit ocw has full physics course use their book for this or
i like serway because the instructor solution manual is floating around
mit ocw has full python course online
calculus - larson most problems are meng type stuff (this is the most important)
linear - poole
ode - zill
discrete - epp
buy old version should run you $20
