From the biological stand-point, nearly every cell in your body has a small battery/powerhouse where chemicals are manipulated to produce energy as needed in the krebs cycle. There are no rotating magnets or any of that junk, just a lot of local dc batteries.

Its actually completely opposite of either.

Our bodies are mostly made up of an electric conductive liquid that is segmented by non-conductive lipid membranes. Our cells exploits chemical ion gradients as a way of temporarily storing energy.
