its probably the most important book in the history of science, the only one i can see being more influential is either Euclid's Elements or the Origin of Species

It's important in a historical sense, i.e. as being the foundation of modern physics, especially classical physics which still plays a huge role in modern science (even though it was in a way surpassed by quantum and relativistic mechanics). But it is not relevant as some sort of textbook, and even though Newton invented Calculus, most of the proofs are still done in an enormously time consuming geometric way.

What about eulers book on the analysis of the infinite? Isnt it still taught in college?
