Huh, I recently had a muslim guy claiming all the great discoveries of the 19th and 20th centuries were from muslims (EM, relativity, quantum theory, computers). It is astounding how deluded people can be.

No one ever said "nothing" created the Big Bang. We don't actually know what started it, though some of the more wacky M-theorists and such claim it was the collision of higher-dimensional "membranes" that led to an explosive release of matter and energy, and the laws we observe are simple woven into the spacetime of that system.

There is absolutely no conclusive proof of this though, and the math/physical reasoning can be very shaky at times with it.

The theory you describe is called the "big crunch", and it is generally not considered the case by cosmologists nowadays. This is due to the solution of the Friedman equation being equal to zero. This, however, is only strongly inferred, not conclusively observed, as we can't accurately predict the energy density of the universe. This is ultimately due to a shortcoming of our instruments, and the limitations of the Hubble volume.

No. Because the Universe the real computer is contained in should've been nothing at some point. If it isn't the "top layer", then whatever the "top layer" is should've came out of nothing at some point.

The fact that you're trying to imply that there is something, whatever it is, before the Big Bang that it came from, is irrelevant as the thing it came from also should've originated from somewhere, up to tracing the entire tree of "somewheres" that begins at "absolute emptiness". Whatever is creating our existence should've began from zero. What modern physics is simply doing is applying Occam's Razor and stating that "it is more probable to be just the Big Bang than the BB + something else".

Why must it be that the universe came from "nothing"?
All the matter in the universe seems like it's been there forever and sometimes changes form. It makes more sense to believe that it's always existed and doesn't need a "cause" for existing.

The real question is what is the underlying nature of interaction? What is causality? Why do things happen? Did everything come from one causal chain or are there multiple chains of causality affecting the world out there?

We will never leave milky way galaxy so you could program the rest of the universe as a "movie" that needs only very little computing power.
