Any of you CS faggots play Screeps?
Is it a good way to teach yourself JS?

kys
JS is for dumb designers and frontend noobs
>>8511909
looks pretty cool OP
JS probably isn't usually agent-orientated, and it might pay to learn/borrow some algorithms from elsewhere
have you learnt much js through it yet?

Haven't started playing yet. Even the in-game tutorial assumes you're already already familiar with JS. So I've been going through code academy to get the hang of the syntax first.
So... yes... in a way.

what is node.js
>>8511911
There's been many backend libs written in JS for a while now. Main stream ones.
web development is a pain in the fucking ASS
>need to know PHP (unless you are a wizard)
>need to know HTML + CSS
>need to know SQL
>helps to know python (needed in many cases)
>javascript needed in almost every case
>intimate knowledge of fifty fucking billion third-party libraries
>need to know an assload of networking shit
i am so glad i don't have to deal with that shit anymore
whatever you're learning javascript for
it's not worth it
